GHIII Angst

The one major issue that comes with Guitar Hero is you start to hate the songs that you struggle to get passed. I think I nearly smashed my stupid little toy guitar about 10 fucking times when trying to play through Queens of the Stoneage’s 3s & 7s on hard, it drove me mad. Now I’e got to contend with Knights of Cydonia on Hard, which I’m hoping I can get through quick enough, but I’m not keeping my hopes up, it’s a tough one.

Guitar Hero III

After a long wait I’ve finally bought myself Guitar Hero III. It’s been a tough one to get before christmas, sold out pretty much everywhere. But I was in a store last night and I saw it sitting there in a 2 guitar package for AU$169, which is a damn good price for 2 guitars, so I took the plunge. I’ve only played it for a couple of hours but I’m petty stoked with it. I’ve only ever played guitar hero once before at a mates place, and I’ve been playing Frets on Fire quite a bit. I’m playing through the career mode at the moment on Medium, which is fairly easy, although I just unlocked the Japan tour series of songs and Muse’s Knights of Cydonia was the first one I failed on, much to my dismay, it’s one of my favourite songs. I’m trying to unlock all the songs nice and quick so that when my mates want to play we can choose any song, I’m looking forward to doing a multiplayer battle, which is fun during the Slash and Morello challenges. I guess the only drawback for the Wii version is, I don’t think it will ever have the downloadable content that the 360 and PS3 versions have, which would be nice and add to the longevity of the game, but ahh well, at least it has online multiplayer. The guitars are pretty cool, and a lot more solid than I was expecting, but no matter what, any adult looks pretty damn stupid with a little toy guitar, there’s no trying to look cool with it, even Slash on the advert looks like a douche.

Martin Sargent - Internet Superstar

Internet Superstar

Martin Sargent has been doing video podcasts for a couple of years now. I first watched him in the 3 pilot episodes of Web Drifter (now a full series), I absolutely loved them. Take away production value and turn it into a.. I guess talk show, and you have Infected. Infected was a bit more of an aquired taste, it started off as an audio podcast with still images jumping across the screen and they eventually went to live action, he had a co-host called gator, a redneck moocher from Gainsville Tennessee and you have an incredibly weird show. The first episode I watched I was kinda cringing throughout the whole thing, for some reason, I kept watching them and I eventually became a fan. Segments such as Gator’s Galz, Stripper Pole Folleys and the odd episode where he actually had a decent guest on, it was actually a pretty good show. Eventually, it got cancelled, or so Martin says, hey it makes a good story. After a few months Internet Superstar was released, which… is essentially the same show, Martin Sargent as host, Gator is the co-host, but with more production value (Although Martin insists it’s his mother’s shed) and I’m guessing more guests. In the first episode his guest’s were some guy that likes to draw a fat version of Wonder Woman, and Tom Green, it will be interesting to see what other guests he can wrangle up over the weeks.

Anyway, go watch it.
