Kids, Don’t Drink.

My God I had a big bender last night, don’t remember coming home, don’t remember a lot of things, but I did wake up to this:

Broken Laptop

Not the nicest thing to wake up to, I guess all I can do now is turn it on, get all my data off it, and eventually, go buy myself a new laptop, it’s gonna take some time though. So kiddies, when your elders tell you don’t drink, it’s bad, listen to them, or things like this can happen.

GHIII Angst

The one major issue that comes with Guitar Hero is you start to hate the songs that you struggle to get passed. I think I nearly smashed my stupid little toy guitar about 10 fucking times when trying to play through Queens of the Stoneage’s 3s & 7s on hard, it drove me mad. Now I’e got to contend with Knights of Cydonia on Hard, which I’m hoping I can get through quick enough, but I’m not keeping my hopes up, it’s a tough one.

Guitar Hero III

After a long wait I’ve finally bought myself Guitar Hero III. It’s been a tough one to get before christmas, sold out pretty much everywhere. But I was in a store last night and I saw it sitting there in a 2 guitar package for AU$169, which is a damn good price for 2 guitars, so I took the plunge. I’ve only played it for a couple of hours but I’m petty stoked with it. I’ve only ever played guitar hero once before at a mates place, and I’ve been playing Frets on Fire quite a bit. I’m playing through the career mode at the moment on Medium, which is fairly easy, although I just unlocked the Japan tour series of songs and Muse’s Knights of Cydonia was the first one I failed on, much to my dismay, it’s one of my favourite songs. I’m trying to unlock all the songs nice and quick so that when my mates want to play we can choose any song, I’m looking forward to doing a multiplayer battle, which is fun during the Slash and Morello challenges. I guess the only drawback for the Wii version is, I don’t think it will ever have the downloadable content that the 360 and PS3 versions have, which would be nice and add to the longevity of the game, but ahh well, at least it has online multiplayer. The guitars are pretty cool, and a lot more solid than I was expecting, but no matter what, any adult looks pretty damn stupid with a little toy guitar, there’s no trying to look cool with it, even Slash on the advert looks like a douche.

With that, and Dark Knight coming out, should be a good year of movies. But deadset, I really want to see more original movies, not from a comic book, computer game or a remake, there’s too few of those these days. In saying that, I think I really need to go see No Country for Old Men.

My iPod is in it’s Last Days.
Posted on: February 28th, 2008 at 1:38pm By: Sebconn

My Click Wheel 60GB iPod is starting to die. I bought this iPod around September 2005, I know this thanks to this post, I knew I had this blog for a reason. So I’ve had it for under 3 years, which is a little disappointing. Although I have thrown the thing around sigificantly. It’s scratched up, I’ve dropped it quite a few times. The more notable drops was once at the gym while running on a treadmill, it dropped out of my pocket, landed on the treadmill and shot back along the wood floor before slamming into the wall, and it didn’t blink an eyelid, still worked fine. Another time I dropped it I was a drunken mess getting out of a taxi, I did the old drop, fumble, inadvertently launched it another metre or so in the air, only to have it land on a very hard bluestone gutter, I woke up in the morning to find the white plastic and all of the insides had popped away from the metal casing, and I had to pop it back into place, again, it didn’t bat an eyelid.

But now it’s starting to cough and splutter, it boots up to the dreaded sad iPod picture with the apple support URL, I put my ear to the iPod and I can here that familiar click n spin sound that faulty hard drives like to do. I don’t quite know how I first found this out but if I give the thing a good whack, it actually works again, sometimes for a good month or so. It goes completely against anything you’re supposed to do with a faulty hard drive but I assure you it works. But I do find myself doing it more and more these days. So if you do have your iPod constantly going to the sad pod, and you have nothing to lose, give it a solid whack on it’s back with the base of your palm and see if it works. Definitely works for me.

So now the question is, what do I upgrade to. The obvious answer is a 80 or 160gb iPod classic. But the iPod touch is mildly enticing, but with only a max of 32gb it’s not quite as practical for me. The other thing I could dois wait for the iPhone to hit Australia, which I’m sincerely hoping is this year sometime, but there is yet to be any announcements about it. I’ll be scratching my chin about it for quite a while I think.
