St Kilda Fest 2005

The one day in the year where everyone in melbourne decides to drink beer and eat food al fresco style in St Kilda, because apparently you can’t do that any other day. I think if the bands weren’t there I’d make more of an effort to get away from St Kilda on that day, just an insane amount of people, all of them hungry and thirsty. A good excuse for bars to up their prices it seems.

But who’s being negative, ended up being a top day and managed to see Xavier Rudd and Cat Empire. The crowd seemed to really get into both bands which was cool, massive turnout for them, people everywhere you looked.

Was definitely a better option training/tramming there rather than driving (which I did the last 2 years), but the V/Line guy didn’t seem to like me and decided to study my ticket with his super special CSI blue light, which he was probably just using to look cool.

I think the one of the main highlights of the day was the dude who decided to climb the scaffolding of the main stage, which must have been around 10 metres high the crowd loved it, the organisers hated it, would have been rather nasty if he fell. This year I’m sure had way more people, haven’t heard the guesstimate that the news people have blurted out but it’s gotta be some kind of record. Last year we were quite easily able to sit on the grass and watch the bands, that just wasn’t possible this year, absolute corner to corner people. There’s a few photos taken on my phone and you can find them in the gallery. Try and sport the human pyramid and there’s a couple of photos of the guy on the scaffolding, hard to make out though.

All Scripts Complete.
Posted on: February 8th, 2005 at 11:41pm By: Sebconn

There we go all of the scripts I set out to get going for this site are now functional. I’m afraid now it’s a bit cluttered, so don’t be surprised if certain sections get turfed after a while. Now it’s onto the content on the other pages. Web Development and Graphic Design will just have info on the services I provide in those areas and a few examples. PHP scripts will have some of the scripts I’ve made in zip files for anyone to download, some of them contain code from tutorials and people helping me on forums so I need to go through it and make sure I give credit where credit is due, other people may like the layout and the output style I’ve done to the scripts. If you’re looking for a third party script these days it’s actually quite hard to find an absolute basic version, everything is competitive and feature rich, when most of the time all I want is the absolute basic function. This is probably a good thing I guess because it forces me to either make my own script or super modify a third party one, which helps me learn more about PHP. The photo gallery is also up with a few photos on it. I can now start blogging about less geeky stuff now, but screw you if I want geeky stuff on here I will, dang nabbit.

It Starts

Wow, I actually have put something on this website….2 years in the making!

My head totally hurts now. too much messing around trying to sort out this blog script, yeah as you can see by the bottom of this page I am using a third party script but I had to edit a fair chunk of stuff and that just ain’t a smart thing to do on a Sunday. Never mind though, it’s just after midnight and I have a good supply of beer. The next step is to get the links script done, which is just a slight change to something I’ve already made. Then I need to setup the news headlines and weather, that’s a new thing for me becuase I’m using RSS feeds to gather the headlines / info, and I haven’t really messed with that before so that will be a new thing for me. Then it’s simply the Misc files, which I have a script for already, then I need to mess with the code to make the page XHTML transitional so I can put a purty thing at the bottom of the page, as well as CSS validated. I wish the image for that were nicer, maybe I’ll make my own. After all that all I need to do is add the content on the other pages, add the photo gallery script and badabing badaboom I’m all done! A few days work after having an under construction page on this domain for the last 2 years. Hell i’m lazy. I’m still trying to decide whether I’ll make the photo gallery public or just private with usernames for my friends. I think I’ll make it private, but then again I think you can make each album public or private with the gallery script so I won’t need to decide.

Anyhoo…
