You see This right here is why I’m slightly hesitant to overclock my hardware paid for with my hard earned cash, of course this was intentional, but I’ll use it as my reason anyway
I screwed up my machine the other day, I won’t get into how, anyway I had no access to my Windows CDs because I left them at work. So I decided to download myself a Linux Distro to tie me over, I downloaded Ubuntu, mainly because it was the smallest ISO to download. I have to say I’m pretty impressed. I generally like to support the underdog in certain situations, and If I didn’t like my computer games and my Macromedia software so much I think I could quite easily do without Windows, I’m still using Ubuntu, but soon I will have the urge to once again blow people up in BF2 and kick peoples asses in Need For Speed: Most Wanted. Ubuntu makes it very easy to install software via the terminal, downloading and installing applications with a simple command, Openoffice is installed, so I’m sorted there, Firefox is exactly the same and I can use bluefish for my web development. I do definitely miss my Fireworks, and my Dreamweaver however, I only use the coder part of Dreamweaver these days but I just feel more comfortable with it, you know what it’s like.
On another note in developing my work’s yearly DVD I went looking for a good free Photo Tiled Mosaic program for Windows, and I found a brilliant program called Andreas Mosaic, Take a look, you can’t go wrong.
I went on strike for the first time today, to support action against lil Johnny’s new Industrial Relations proposed legislation. Lots of angry people were there, I’m afraid I can’t get that angry about it, but I’m definitely against it. It was the rally in Geelong and it’s thought 30000 people rocked up. But the unions will claim there were 100 million people at the Geelong one, and 100 thousand billion at the Melbourne one. Managed to make the front page of the Geelong Advertiser, kinda my own version of Where’s Wally. Can you spot me? hmm might be hard.
Here’s a cool pic showing China’s development over the last 10 years, rather impressive.
